Terms of use

Effective 3 October 2026

These terms are the ground rules for using Spotter. They're short and written in plain language. By using Spotter, you agree to them.

What Spotter is

Spotter is a small, free, invite-only app for two people to coach each other: set each other's workout and diet plans, log progress and share it. It's run by individuals, not a company, and it isn't a medical or professional fitness service.

Not medical advice

Plans in Spotter are written by your partner or by you, not by a doctor, dietitian or certified trainer. Nothing in the app is medical advice. Check with a qualified professional before starting a new exercise or diet programme, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are changing your weight quickly. The app warns about very low calorie targets, but it's your call (and your partner's) to keep plans safe. Stop and get help if something hurts or feels wrong.

Your account

  • You need an invite (or to be one of the people who run Spotter) and a Google account to join.
  • Keep your Google account secure; anyone who can sign in to it can sign in to Spotter as you.
  • One account per person, and you can be paired with one partner at a time.

Your content

  • What you add (logs, photos, messages, plans you write) stays yours. You let Spotter store it and show it to you and your paired partner, which is what the app needs to work. See the privacy policy.
  • Only upload photos you have the right to share, and don't upload photos of other people without their permission.
  • Be kind. Don't use Spotter to harass, threaten or harm anyone, including your partner.
  • Don't try to break, overload or get around the app's security or limits, or access anyone else's data.

Ending things

  • You can unpair or delete your account at any time from Settings.
  • The people who run Spotter may deactivate an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. A deactivated account can't sign in, and its data is kept unless the person asks us (by email) to delete it.
  • Spotter is provided free and as-is. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or shut down the app. If we plan to shut it down, we'll give notice in the app so you can save what you need.

Limits on responsibility

To the extent the law allows, the people who run Spotter aren't responsible for injuries, health outcomes or losses that come from following a plan, or from the app being unavailable or losing data. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

Changes

If we change these terms, we'll update this page and its effective date. If you keep using Spotter after a change, the new terms apply.
